Choir

Ascension Lutheran Church has a rich tradition of sacred choral music. The Ascension Choir is directed by Bruce Dresser.  The choir leads the congregation in their sung prayers, adding support and vibrancy to congregational song. And the choir brings that special musical  dynamic to worship:  anthems and spiritual songs of praise, prayer, reflection and proclamation. The choir sings every Sunday and at the special festival services on Reformation Sunday, Christmas Eve, Good Friday, Easter Day , and Pentecost.  The choir sings  variety of music:  choir and congregational favorites, gospel, hymn arrangements, “contemporary” Christian music, classical music:  music that is difficult and complicated as well as music that is not so difficult and complicated. All sung to the glory of God and as a proclamation of the Gospel.

Grace Notes Bell Choir

Ascension’s high school through adult Handbell Choir.  We rehearse Mondays 6-7:30pm from September through June, providing special music once a month in the worship service, on Christmas Eve, Good Friday.  The bell choir participates in the annual Ringing in Christmas bell concert held at 1st Presbyterian Church, Medford in Mid-December.

Children and Youth: Opportunities to learn to ring are offered through the Sunday School and Confirmation Programs.   The children and youth will learn basic music and ringing skills with the opportunity to participate in a worship service ringing.

Special music during worship

We have many talented musicians of all ages in our congregations. We encourage our musicians to share their gifts during worship.  During the summer, we have musicians sing or play an instrument each Sunday.
